Love this dog walk training collar. Humane prong collar with rubber prong tip covers. My dog was heeling the first time I used this.Bought one of these from PetSmart for one of my dogs $40+ and was pleased with this one being much cheaper and still great quality. Even comes with little protectors!Doesnt cinch closed. Not very effectiveThese collars should ONLY be used in conjunction with training as they are ONLY a management tool. Our trainer told us that since our dog (a stray Border Collie GSD that came on our property that we adopted) is not reactive to other dogs etc that we should try a prong collar only for management of his pulling during walks. This is not in lieu of training, it is a management tool for training only. He only wears this on our walks to help with his pulling. We had tried three different “no pull” harnesses, a martingale collar, a rope harness (this one was not too bad for control but he could still pull a bit) and had no success to little success. Our trainer told us that choke chains are the absolute worst for dogs as they will cause spinal chord trauma, but the prong collar mimics their mothers moving them around by the scruff. This collar is to be worn up closer to their ears. This collar I thought was supposed to come with a tool to take the prongs out to fit the dog, but no tool came with it. I eventually figured out one side of the buckle could be removed and after some finagling I got one piece out and the buckle back on. This collar did come with extra rubber tips for the prongs and a dog whistle. I hope this collar will continue to bridge the gap between training how to heel and our current walks so that my arm can remain firmly in its socket! I hope this review was helpful and please do consult a trainer on best use of this type of collar before trying it yourself for your furry friend!Though my dog's neck fit in the middle of the "small" chart size, it is barely big enough. It did not come with any extra links as I expected. It does have extra prong guards. I also wished it had more of a "choke chain" pull that corresponded to the dog pulling. This collar should still do the job for keeping my dog from pulling on walks, but on my bike, he pulled ahead just as far as he would with a normal collar. My dog is 100lbs and pulls because he’s a lab hound mix and taps into that hound drive every single time we go anywhere. He pulls incessantly to the point where I know one of these times eventually he will sincerely hurt himself. He pulls typically to the point of choking himself and although he could “just knock it off”, he doesn’t due to his natural instinct and high prey/hunting/smelling/tracking drive. He is normally fitted for a collar sized large to extra large. This fits him beautifully without even needing to adjust out of the box. I like how it’s got clips and isn’t a slip over head type like they typically are. I like how it’s got the nylon support through the collar. When you put around and clip on/in, it has a red plastic piece on the clip part that allows you to lock it into place. It’s all super easy to use, understand how to use and execute use. He immediately stops pulling. The prongs have rubber stops on them so this won’t hurt the dog wearing it. Once they might start to pull, they will immediately stop. I had ordinally invested in one years ago when I had a massive knee surgery because I still wanted to take my dogs on walks and didn’t want to do further joint surgery damage to my knee WHEN my dog would jerk/pull incessantly while walking. Not sure what ever happened to that collar; it got lost in moves; so I opted to order this one and am very happy with the product, I think it’s a decent price for the product and my dog and I both can actually enjoy the hikes and walks without fear of either of us being injured. Highly recommend !I was very hesitant to order these collars, as I had always thought of them as inhumane for the dog. Well, I have a hard-headed dog with a thick neck that keeps rolling and slipping his collars off (I've went through over 6 different collarswith him (including a choker). This collar solved the problem. No more pulling hard during walks or when staked outside for a few hours. You can leave the tip covers on or remove them depending on your dogs' tolerance and pull strength. I don't have the collars on tight, but if they pull hard enough, they have that slight poke that is enough to stop their actions. My family got a black lab puppy and while she's absolutely adorable, walking her quickly became a work out as she would pull non-stop. It got pretty bad where the kids refused to walk the dog, and the poor animal would completely exhaust itself pulling during a walk. A buddy of mine recommended a training collar and said that it worked amazing for his puppy. I've looked into different options and I didnt like the idea of a choke collar or an electric training collar. This collar seemed more humane while still achieving the goal of discouraging the dog from pulling. So far been using the collar for couple of months, probably not as consistent as we should be, but the results are still there. While using this collar, the dog pretty much stops pulling, or pulls with a lot less force. She's also more manageable when using regular collars, although she still gets her "pony" moments when she thinks she's a little horse and she's pulling a carriage or something :) I'm pretty confident that with continued use of this collar, our puppy will eventually stop pulling completely and my entire family can enjoy taking her out for walks. Make sure you pick the right size collar for your dog as there's no way to adjust the straps. You want the collar to fit snug but not too tight, not to create too much discomfort for the dog.
