Description

Two decades of genetic research and experimentation, subsidized by the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, produces an amazing animal of the sub species Canis Lupus Familiaris. It appears to be a large golden retriever; however, it has one salient attribute that separates it from the rest of the canine world, it possesses the intelligence of an adult human being. After escaping from a genetic research laboratory in Iran, Magic wanders into Iraq, where he befriends Lt. Ryan Quinn. He saves Ryan's life after he is captured by insurgents. In return, Ryan ships Magic back to his Florida home. Ryan has no idea that his big lovable mutt is the result of many generations of genetic tinkering by the Iranian Ministry of Health. Magic can communicate using a computer, but is reluctant to tell anyone about his powers for fear of becoming a lab rat again.

Magic is a special dog. He has the intelligence of a human, the loving, loyal heart of a Golden Retriever along with all the goofy exuberance of the breed. He is also the narrator and carries the point of view of the book. . I thoroughly enjoyed his wry sense of humor and observations of human foibles.I must compliment the author on his very original plot. From page one, the plot dives off the high board and doesn't come up for air until the end. It's a fast, exciting, emotional read. I read it in one day. Sometimes I just want to read a book that's fun to read. This is the book.I highly recommend "Magic". My golden retriever, Jake, is also a big fan. Magic has promised Jake he'll teach him how to use Adobe Photo Shop and Jake will provide a list of all the best Dog Parks in Northern Illinois .S OBrien, Illinois
